Susan Barnard Bio

Susan M. Barnard is a partner in our Corporate department. Based in the Boston office, she represents public and private companies with respect to matters involving securities law, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law. Sue also represents sponsors and institutional investors in the formation of and investment in private investment funds for commercial timberland, commercial farmland, and commercial real estate. For example, Sue represented a commercial timberland investment management firm in its formation of five commercial timberland investment funds structured as private REITS with aggregate offering proceeds in excess of $1.5 billion. In a long list of acquisitions, she has advised: a publicly held company in the vehicle recovery technology business on its acquisition of the stock of a Canadian public company for cash and exchangeable shares; a privately held dairy company on its acquisition of 12 dairy holding and operating companies in many states; and a global strategy consulting firm on its acquisitions of the assets of several domestic and international consulting businesses. Furthermore, Sue has advised various domestic and foreign issuers on the private placements of debt and equity securities, with proceeds from offerings aggregating more than $1 billion.
