Bio

Derek is a Partner responsible for originating and leading investment opportunities with a particular focus on technology. Prior to joining Inflexion in 2018, he was a private equity investor for over twenty years, with Permira for a number of years before co-founding Darwin Private Equity in 2006. His investment experience covers technology (Attenda, AU-System, Datum Datacentres, Esendex, Euroffice, LIS, Memec), media (All3Media, Silicon.com) and telecommunications (ASK4, Inmarsat, Intelsat). He worked on the primary buyouts of the Automobile Association and Travelodge and currently sits on the board of Times Higher Education. Derek qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen, London, and worked in corporate finance and turnaround consulting. He spent a year on secondment to Accenture’s strategy consulting practice. Derek enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, visiting the music venues and independent cinemas of London, and the ups and downs of watching Arsenal. He holds a degree in Economics & Accounting from Bristol University.
