Bio

David is active in the firm’s Fund III investments in RPX and Monotype Imaging as well as in the various toehold investments across Funds III and IV. He has led the extension of HGGC’s core middle-market private equity strategy to include public/private crossover strategies such as take-private transactions, PIPEs and toehold investments in publicly traded companies. David serves as Chief Executive Officer of Pathfinder Acquisition Corporation, a special purpose acquisition vehicle backed by affiliates of HGGC and Industry Ventures. David brings more than 25 years of experience as a private equity, public equity and crossover public/private investor and dealmaker, through which he has developed a distinctive wide-angle experience set and expertise as an engaged financial sponsor and partnership-oriented investor across the public-private spectrum. Prior to joining HGGC in December 2016, David independently pursued a wide range of private equity and public stake investment opportunities requiring a differentiated approach through Arrowhead Holdings LLC. From 2006 to 2012, David was an Investment Partner at Blum Capital Partners, a San Francisco-based investment firm focused on a crossover approach encompassing long-term minority stakes in public companies and private equity. Previously, he spent two years as a Partner at Standard Pacific Capital, a public equity investment firm, and seven years as a Director and Principal at global private equity firm KKR beginning in 1995. Prior to his investment career, he was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Co. and an investment banker at Hambrecht & Quist. David has served on numerous corporate boards, and he currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
