Brooks Zug, a founder of the Firm, was a senior managing director through early 2018. In March 2018, he became a senior managing director emeritus. He joined the corporate finance department of John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1977, and, in 1982, co-founded Hancock Venture Partners, which later became HarbourVest Partners. Brooks is a director of HarbourVest Global Private Equity Limited (HVPE), a listed investment company that is traded on the London Stock Exchange. Brooks is a past Trustee of Lehigh University and a current Trustee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He received a BS from Lehigh University in 1967 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1970.
