Ronald Schwass is a partner at the firm and head of its Asset Management and Investment Funds Group. Ronald practises in the areas of securities, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, primarily in relation to the asset management and venture capital industries. Ronald is active in all aspects of traditional, alternative and private equity fund formation from their establishment and financing, the registration of key service providers under relevant legislation to undertaking acquisitions and integrating the operations of different organizations. He also acts for issuers and dealers in offerings of companies involved in the asset management and fintech industries, and in respect of innovative investment products offered to retail, high net worth and institutional investors in Canada. Before entering private practice, Ronald was a solicitor in the Corporate Finance Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission (1987–1990), with particular responsibility for mutual fund regulation. Ronald has authored numerous articles in his field and has been a frequent participant at industry conferences. He has been listed in the peer-selected The Best Lawyers in Canada directory for his work in Mutual Funds Law and Private Funds Law and has been listed in all editions of The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory in the area of Investment Funds & Asset Management. From 2017 to 2019 he was a member of the Securities Advisory Committee to the Ontario Securities Commission.
