Kay Hobbs specialises in the corporate aspects of renewable energy projects across all technologies including onshore and offshore wind, biomass, solar, hydro, wave and tidal. She also advises on energy storage projects. She has acted for a wide range of developers, utilities and debt and equity funders including Thrive Renewables, Ecotricity, NextEnergy Capital, Infrared Capital, British Solar Renewables, Fengate Capital, Gaelectric, Savills Solar, RWE npower, Statkraft, Statoil, SSE plc, EDF Group and Blackrock. Kay has worked exclusively in this sector for over a decade and has worked on some of the world's largest renewable energy projects including advising the Forewind Consortium in relation to their successful bid for the 9GW Dogger Bank offshore wind zone and their related internal structural, funding and commercial arrangements. Kay has recently advised NextEnergy, one of the UK's largest clean energy funds, on its acquisition of a solar rooftop portfolio; Ecotricity's £500m onshore wind joint venture with Skanska; British Solar Renewable's acquisition and disposal of several hundred MWs of ground mounted solar projects and Infrared Capital on the disposal of the 29MW Twin Rivers Wind Farm. Kay's corporate renewables team was ranked by the Lawyer and Clean Energy Pipeline in the top five in Europe for renewables M&A deal activity. Kay qualified in 2008 and joined TLT in 2014.
