Michael concentrates his practice in income tax and estate planning, particularly for owners of closely-held businesses and real estate and holders of substantial liquid assets. He counsels numerous family offices in the planning for multiple generations of family members. In this capacity, he has established numerous privately-held investment companies, grantor retained annuity trusts, and charitable lead annuity trusts for clients with substantial holdings of liquid assets and real estate. He also counsels numerous closely-held business corporations and limited liability companies. Michael has written and lectured extensively on a variety of tax topics, including presentations to the New York University Institute on Federal Taxation, the Federal Tax Institute of New England, and the American Law Institute - American Bar Association.
