Long and recognised experience in the fields of corporate, banking and finance, insurance and capital markets law. Francesco directs the Firm’s overall activities. Francesco started his career as a lawyer at the Consulenza Legale (Legal Department) of Bank of Italy (1967-1986), of which he eventually became Deputy Head. Later, he was Head of the Area Studi Giuridici ed Economici (Legal and Economic Studies Department) of the Italian Securities Markets Authority (CONSOB) (1986-1989). He founded the Firm in 1989. Francesco was formerly a professor of Advanced Commercial Law and Italian and International Monetary Law at LUISS University in Rome. He also held teaching positions at the Universities of Bocconi Milan, Pisa and Naples as well as at the Scuola Superiore di Polizia Tributaria (Post-Graduate Tax Police Training School) and the Scuola Superiore della Pubblica Amministrazione (Post-Graduate Public Administration Training School). Francesco was member of the Ministerial Commissions in charge for drafting the implementation measures of the Second and Fourth Directives concerning the harmonisation of the law on joint-stock companies. He was the head of the working group appointed by the Minister of Industry to reorganise insurance legislation and draft the text of the Italian Insurance Code, later approved via Legislative Decree no. 209/2005. Francesco authored numerous publications on commercial, banking, capital market and monetary law. These include two monographs: “L’acquisto di azioni proprie†(The acquisition of treasury shares), in 1988, and “I contratti di intermediazione mobiliare†(Securities brokerage contracts), in 1992. He also authored the “Codice del Mercato Finanziario†(Financial Markets Code) and the “Codice della Banca e del Credito†(Bank and Credit Code). Former President of the Arbitral Council at the Arbitration Chamber of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome. Top Legal Award for Excellence for 2017.
