Gregory Xu leads the banking, and project finance offering for Southeast Asia out of the Singapore office. He specialises in high value banking and finance transactions and has extensive experience in a range of complex multi-jurisdictional transactions. Gregory advises on multi-million dollar deals across a diverse range of sectors, including transport, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, energy and professional services. He has particular expertise in general finance, project finance and asset finance in the shipping, offshore and aviation industries, and is recognised by The Legal 500 for his "broad practice, technical capabilities and commercial acumen". His clients include financial institutions, funds, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies. Gregory regularly advises on corporate and commercial law instructions, and his expertise also extends to multi-jurisdictional competing security enforcement actions and restructurings, particularly those arising from insolvency, fraud and distressed situations. His matters are often international, and he advises clients in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, with a particular focus on Greater China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. He is featured as a recommended lawyer in a number of these jurisdictions by independent legal directories, and the India Business Law Journal lauds his "extensive experience in asset finance, particularly shipping and transport”. Gregory is presently admitted to practice law in the New York, England & Wales, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand and sits on the Admissions, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Young Lawyers Committees of the Law Society of Singapore. He is also a member of the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) India Committee and participates in initiatives of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education and the Law Society Pro Bono Services Office. Prior to joining the firm, he kept a busy practice in both banking and finance, and asset finance at a Magic Circle law firm.
