Arthur Jay Schwartz is a Partner of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP. He currently serves as the Firm's Finance Partner. In his practice, Mr. Schwartz has particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, finance, securities, commercial leasing and technology. Mr. Schwartz represents and advises clients in all types of mergers and acquisition transactions including "going private" and "leveraged buyout transactions," representing both buyers, sellers and financing parties. He regularly consults with public and privately held clients on the effective use of capital structure to accomplish a variety of financing objectives. In addition, Mr. Schwartz has an active practice in business acquisition and divestiture transactions, especially where the transactions involved complex financing structure issues. He regularly represents borrowers and secured and unsecured lenders in connection with all types of financing transactions and public companies and underwriters in connection with public equity and debt offerings. Mr. Schwartz has extensive experience working with technology companies and in all aspects of their business, including organizational structure, financing and capital raising, mergers and acquisitions and public and private securities offerings. Mr. Schwartz received his A.B. degree in History and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1969. He received his J.D. degree from Emory University in 1972, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal honor fraternity.
