Owen Rafferty is RK’s chairman, having joined the firm in 1980. He specialises in acting for financiers and investors in real estate and commercial ventures. He has broad experience in advising on bespoke agreements for financial and real estate transactions, such as purchase and development agreements, joint ventures, option agreements, development financing structures and all documentation relating to developments of office and industrial, shopping centres, leisure units and mixed use buildings. He has also handled many leases and sales of land associated with these developments. Owen’s clients vary from high street lenders and hedge funds to public companies and insolvency practitioners. He advises on financial and banking transactional documents such as standard form documentation and structures for lenders and other financial institutions. He has assisted clients in setting up in-house teams and work structures including recruitment and training. Working alongside RK’s Dispute Resolution Group, Owen advises on high value and complex corporate disputes, including claims for fraud, debt enforcement and recoveries against professional advisors. He has worked on many high profile cases in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Owen is a regular speaker at conferences, seminars and industry events.
