It’s no exaggeration to say that the sector experience Mike Spetch has built up over three decades is what you might call extensive. After all, his mainstream corporate transactional work covers pharmaceutical and food commodities, retail and leisure, as well as more general manufacturing and engineering businesses. Most of that experience has been gained right here in the North East, and has seen Mike advising his regional, national and international clients on transactions across the corporate spectrum. This has included acquisitions and disposals, restructuring and reorganisations, not to mention private equity investments and realisations to more general strategic corporate finance advice. In more recent years, however, Mike has spent a significant amount of his time advising UK and overseas clients on a range of cross-border acquisitions and investments. Named Corporate Lawyer of the Year at the 2012 Insider North East Dealmakers Awards, Mike claims that so much of his spare time is spent entertaining his young son and daughter, that there is little left over for hobbies or pastimes of his own. However, he does have a dream that one day he might be allowed a little ‘me time’ of his own. Good luck with that, Mike!
