A graduate of Indiana University School of Law (1976 Magna Cum Laude). He is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American Bar Associations. He served as a Note and Development Editor, Indiana Law Review, 19751976, Co-Authored, "The Indiana Mechanic's Lien Law," The Michie Company, 1981; Author and Panelist, "Indiana Mechanic's Lien Law," Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, 1985; "Hot Topics & Issues in Current Real Estate, Commercial and Residential Transactions," Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, 1991; Author and panelist Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, Mechanics Lien Law, February 1994, November 1999, April 2005 and September 2010. He also serves as a Certified Mediator. For the past 25 years, he has been a partner with the Indianapolis law firm of Mitchell Hurst Dick & McNelis, LLC and its predecessor firm Mitchell Hurst Jacobs & Dick.
