Benjamin Bloom is a Partner in our Business Law group where his work focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general commercial matters. Much of Ben's work is with private equity funds and other institutional acquirers of businesses. He has significant experience advising clients on the purchase and sale and financing of businesses in the healthcare sector in particular, having negotiated and managed the purchase, sale, and financing of numerous pharmacies, dental clinics, hearing aid clinics, and chiropractic clinics. Ben regularly acts for Neighbourly Pharmacy (formerly Rx Drug Mart (RxDM)) and has advised it in connection with the acquisition of more than 165 pharmacies. Ben also regularly works with suppliers of information technology products and services. He is experienced in structuring agreements relating to technology development, technology licensing and subscription agreements, and the sale of intellectual property. Ben also advises clients on issues related to Canada’s privacy and anti-spam legislation (CASL). Before becoming a corporate lawyer, Ben previously worked in corporate strategy and finance roles. He leverages this work experience to obtain a deeper understanding of his clients’ businesses and industries and to provide practical advice in order to efficiently achieve his clients’ business objectives.
