Justyna Regan is an attorney licensed in Illinois and Poland (radca prawny), and a principal in the firm's Chicago office. She also works closely with the firm's offices in Poland. Justyna specializes in international transactions, advising clients on all aspects of their business activities. In particular, she concentrates on European (specifically Polish) companies carrying on their business in the United States and trying to enter the U.S. market, as well as on global businesses operating in Europe generally, and those interested in pursuing further greenfield investments, joint ventures, and trade with Europe. Justyna's practice specialties include European, U.S. and multi-national business law, data privacy and intellectual property law, in particular software licensing. She also has experience in corporate and commercial law, international transactions and joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities, private equity, venture capital, equity and debt financing, as well as project finance. Justyna has built a recognizable international reputation in the area of cross-border defamation and data privacy. During her academic career, she has published multiple articles and books, in Polish, English and Spanish, on the international aspects of rights of personality, including data privacy. She has served as an expert witness on Polish law and she was appointed a Special Master in a United States Federal Court case that involved cross-border discovery. She is a member of the firm's Data Privacy Team, where she has been handling cases involving transfer of data from the E.U. to the U.S. She is the Chair of the Cyberlaw and Data Privacy Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. Justyna is a former Fulbright scholar (Chicago-Kent College of Law) and law professor.
