Richard Marlin joined McLaughlin & Stern, LLP in January 2012 as a partner practicing in the corporate and trusts and estates areas. During the previous 31 years, Richard was a partner and then counsel at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, LLP, in New York City. Richard’s experience and skills cover a broad range of areas. In corporate, he has an emphasis in general corporate representation, financial markets, hedge funds and investment companies, including organizing hedge funds and advising them on aspects of their organization and continued operations; acting as general counsel to hedge fund groups; advising registered investment advisors as well as closed end funds, including interfacing with the Securities and Exchange Commission and stock exchanges with respect to listing and compliance issues; providing general corporate advice and advising buyers and sellers of businesses in connection with mergers and asset and stock purchases and sales, employment agreements, stockholder and limited liability agreements. In trusts and estates, his activities include counseling individuals and families with respect to estate planning and money management matters; and preparation of wills, trusts and ancillary agreements. Richard acts as executor and trustee for various estates and trusts.
