Bio

Brent “Giles” Davis counsels and represents clients on intellectual property, complex commercial litigation, and entertainment matters. As trial counsel, he has obtained favorable verdicts for his clients in jury and bench trials in both state and federal courts and settlements in a wide variety of trademark, copyright and trade secrets cases, as well as commercial litigation on a variety of contract, employment and shareholder matters. While attending the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Davis was Acquisitions Editor for the Arts and Entertainment Law Journal and has appeared as a guest lecturer at various institutions on the topics of Intellectual Property Law, the Religion Clauses of the First Amendment and Jewish Influence in American Popular Music. His article IDENTITY THEFT: TRIBUTE BANDS, GRAND RIGHTS, AND DRAMATICO-MUSICAL PERFORMANCES is a cited authority in Nimmer on Copyright. Prior to joining the field of law, Davis was a fulltime musician. He has performed with many different artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Guster, Bobby Kimball (Toto), Spencer Davis, Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel), Julio Fernandez (Spyro Gyra), Bernard Purdie (Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan), Gerardo Velez (Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies), Hugh MacDonald (Bon Jovi), Vini Lopez (E Street Band), Patti Scialfa (E Street Band) and Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones). He also produced, performed and/or composed music for a variety of outlets including The Food Network and The Tennessee Williams Theater Festival and has released two albums as a solo artist.
