Matthew became a partner at the firm in 2015 after operating his own successful labour & employment practice for several years. He has been dedicated to the practice of labour & employment law for the duration of more than nine years of practice. Matthew advises and represents employers on all aspects of labour & employment law including: union avoidance, wrongful dismissals, contracts, workplace policies, human rights and WSIB issues. He has argued successfully in all levels of Superior Court as well as at the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Tribunal, the Human Rights Tribunal and in labour arbitrations. Matthew has a law degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Laws from the University of Toronto where his thesis focused on Human Rights and Labour Law. He is a published author and has published numerous articles on Mergers, mental illness in the workplace and various other topics pertinent to workplace governance. He has also acted as a Professor and is a frequent public speaker on employment law issues, conducting seminars to instruct management on the governance of workplaces and employment laws. Matthew’s clients represent a broad spectrum of the Ontario economy including companies in manufacturing, construction, services, and finance. His clients range from family owned businesses to large Real Estate Investment Trusts.
