Timothy Lavender is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office and co-chair of the Energy practice. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, general corporate counseling and taxation. As a former tax lawyer, Mr. Lavender brings an added dimension to his corporate practice. Mr. Lavender has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions ranging from small asset acquisitions and dispositions to multi-million dollar transactions, including providing strategic counsel and conducting primary negotiations. He has advised numerous manufacturing clients on strategic alliances, balancing protection of their intellectual property, management control and economic expectations. He represents sellers and financial and strategic buyers, as well as private equity firms. He also has many years of experience representing clients, including issuers and investors, in debt and equity financings. His experience ranges from early-stage venture financing to more traditional private equity funding, and includes the representation of private investment funds in their formation and operation. He also assists clients in preparation for financings, including private placement memorandums. Mr. Lavender’s financing experience extends to the securities area, where he has familiarity with both the private and public issuance of equity and debt.
