Allen Greenberg has been tax partner and head of our tax department of the firm since 1969. Drawing upon his extensive and specialized skills in domestic and international tax law, he has advised individual and business clients, both domestic and international, on a broad universe of tax-related matters, including tax planning, structuring the choice of business entity, mergers and acquisitions, raising capital, and counseling related to business contracts, and private foundations. Mr. Greenberg also counsels on estate and gift taxes, and estate planning. Mr. Greenberg has represented multinational corporations, foreign banks, art galleries, concert artists, and principals investing in the United States. He has been involved in audits, appeals, and tax controversy work in the federal and state administrative and court systems. He has litigated major tax disputes before the United States Tax Court and the New York State Division of Tax Appeals. Mr. Greenberg received his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from New York University. He was awarded his LL.B degree from the Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Greenberg was a Fulbright Scholar at the London School of Economics. He subsequently received an LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University Law School.
