Álvaro Mateo Sixto is a Corporate M&A Partner and co-Head of Venture Capital at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo. Between September 2015 and November 2016, Álvaro was seconded to Cravath, Swaine & Moore. He specialises in commercial law, M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions and joint ventures, both domestic and cross-border. He has extensive experience advising start-ups (ongoing advice on strategic issues), venture capital and investors, having participated in some of the most relevant transactions in the entrepreneurial scene. He holds a law degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Salzburg Universität. He studied at the Academy of American and International Law, Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law, Dallas, Texas. Álvaro is recognised in Chambers & Partners as one of the leading Private Equity and Venture Capital professionals in the market. Additionally, Álvaro is one of the most active lawyers in M&A in Spain. He has participated as an author or coauthor in several specialised legal publications.
