Brian Boyd is a principal in the Atlanta office of Fish & Richardson P.C., and is a member of the firm’s intellectual property litigation practice. He has successfully litigated dozens of high-stakes patent litigation matters in U.S. district courts throughout the country, as well as the U.S. International Trade Commission, and has been recognized as a “Rising Star†by Super Lawyers. He is accomplished in all phases of litigation, including depositions, claim construction hearings, expert discovery, pretrial, and trial, and he is recognized for his combination of deep technical knowledge, legal and strategic analysis, and litigation skills. In addition to litigation matters, Mr. Boyd’s practice includes inter partes review (IPR) proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, due diligence, and counseling on intellectual property licenses and transactions. Mr. Boyd is an electrical engineer by training, and his litigation and counseling experience covers a wide range of high-tech companies and technologies, including digital and analog circuits, smartphones, cellular standards (e.g., UMTS and LTE), Internet Protocol telephony, computer architecture, networking, security, websites, flash memory, GPS, and LCD television technologies. Before joining the firm, Mr. Boyd served as a law clerk for the Honorable Alvin A. Schall of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. As an electrical engineer, he gained real-world technical experience working at Schlumberger Ltd., where he designed electronics for high temperature drilling applications, and at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, where he developed software and hardware for missile defense systems.
