Mr. Kalsched began his legal career in San Francisco as a litigation lawyer, where he handled complex business and real estate matters. He later founded a real estate development company that developed and operated a state-of-the-art golf practice center, located in south San Jose. Mr. Kalsched has practiced law in Sonoma County since 1998, with a focus on the wine industry. He works with wineries, grape growers, importers, exporters and other wine related businesses. He has specific experience representing buyers and sellers of wineries, vineyards and winery related assets. He also has particular experience in negotiating and structuring portfolio acquisitions and financing arrangements related to the wine industry for both borrowers and lenders. He regularly advises buyers and sellers of wineries and vineyards on issues related to due diligence, documenting transactions, and closings. Mr. Kalsched has additional experience in: intellectual property, including trademarks and electronic commerce; and the formation, organization and dissolution of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies. He has further experience in international business transactions, including trade and distribution, and is a member of the International Law and Business Law Sections of the American Bar Association. Mr. Kalsched is involved with various civic organizations in Sonoma County, has served as a member of the board of directors of North Bay World Trade Association, has lectured at Sonoma State University on the topic of international distribution of wine, and has served as the President of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco Chapter. He is one of the founders of the Swiss-California Foundation, a non-profit corporation. Mr. Kalsched is fluent in French.
