Bio

Tom Knapp is a member of Brown & Fortunato’s Corporate Group, where he is a shareholder. His practice includes general business matters with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, healthcare transactions, corporate governance, business start-ups, business counseling, corporate finance, trademark filings, and contract negotiating and drafting. Tom serves as the principal legal advisor to a wide range of businesses, helping clients achieve growth and success. Tom has negotiated and drafted purchase and sale agreements, merger agreements, conversion documents, business start-up and formation documents, loan documents, trademark filings and appeals, license agreements, and a wide array of agreements designed for specific client needs. Tom serves as the lead advisor to buyers and sellers in numerous health law transactions involving the sales and acquisitions of durable medical equipment companies, pharmacies, medical groups, home health agencies, hospices, and other healthcare related entities. In that capacity, he assists clients ranging from individuals to private equity groups in all aspects of these transactions including: helping clients secure financing; conducting legal, operational and financial due diligence; negotiating and drafting asset, stock or redemption agreements; drafting applicable ancillary agreements; and assisting with in-person or electronic closings and post-closing obligations. Tom is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Amarillo Area Bar Association. Tom is a board member of the Amarillo Young Lawyers Association, a founding board member of the Center City Club of Amarillo (a civic group organized to bring young professionals together), and an active board member of Center City of Amarillo, Inc. Tom is a native of Amarillo and his family has been in the Texas panhandle for five generations. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas in Austin with a major in Government and a minor in Spanish. After college, Tom interned for Mac Thornberry in Washington D.C. before obtaining his law degree at South Texas College of Law in Houston where he participated in Varsity Moot Court. Tom and his wife Cassidy have a son. Smith. Tom enjoys spending time with family, traveling and watching Texas football.
