For Tony Alvarez, establishing close relationships with clients and understanding their business and goals are fundamental cornerstones of a job well done. Tony is recognized for his work in the corporate area where he has been involved in significant transactions domestically and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. He frequently represents business enterprises of all types, entrepreneurs, family offices and other stakeholders in corporate matters ranging from asset acquisition and disposition transactions and joint ventures to bank finance transactions and corporate governance matters. With over 30 years of experience in corporate and business law, Tony has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures in a broad range of industry sectors both in cross-border and domestic transactions. He has significant experience in financing transactions and has been involved in a number of important restructurings, privatizations and public and private partnership transactions throughout his career. Through his extensive experience, Tony understands clients’ needs for efficient and effective counseling and transaction management in today’s rapidly evolving business markets. Prior to founding Alvarez Arrieta & Diaz-Silveira LLP, Tony was a Partner at White & Case LLP, an international law firm where he was a Partner for over two decades. During his career at White & Case, Tony helped establish White & Case’s office in Mexico City and was actively engaged in White & Case’s practice in Latin America and the Caribbean. Tony has an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating, the highest rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell®. Tony has also been recognized as a leading lawyer in Latin American Investment in the 2007-2015 editions of the Chambers USA Legal Guide. Tony graduated from Georgetown University’s The McDonough School of Business cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1978. He received his J.D. in 1981 from Columbia Law School where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar (1979-1980).
