Bio

A member of the Paris and New York bars, Marc specializes in intellectual property and information technologies law. He assists French and international clients in their commercial activities, especially with respect to IT law (software, databases, IT equipment, on-line services, e-commerce…) and helps them develop and defend the value of their IP rights (trademarks, patents, domain names, copyrights, drawings and models, etc.). Marc works with his clients on the negotiation of all types of contracts concerning IP rights, whether at the core of the agreement (co-existence agreements, R&D contracts, license, assignment, etc.) or essential to the commercial relationship (maintenance, outsourcing, supply, franchise, etc.). Marc has also developed a strong expertise in IP/IT audits for the purpose of M&A deals and fund-raising. He defends the interests of his clients against third parties, both in pre-litigation and litigation contexts as well as in the negotiation of settlement agreements. Marc has extensive experience in Data Protection law, in particular audits, filings with the French Data Protection Authority, drafting of privacy policies, data transfers out of the European Union and as data protection correspondent. Through careful analysis of his clients’ activities and the financial, commercial and strategic aspects of their cases, Marc is able to propose solutions tailored to their specific needs. Before joining Almain, Marc started his career with Shearman & Sterling and then joined Eversheds LLP, where he practiced for 11 years and directed the IP/IT team in France. He then spent 3 years in the Paris office of Bignon Lebray, where he was responsible for the IP/IT team. Marc holds an LLM from University of Pennsylvania, a DEA (Master) in EU law from University Paris II-Assas and a Diploma of Legal Studies from Oxford University. He is also a graduate of Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris (Sciences-Po). Marc speaks French and English.
