Mr. Chan, Managing Director and Co-Head of Asia for the Global Opportunities strategy, is based in Hong Kong and helps lead the group’s investing activity across all Asian real estate-related investments and NPLs. Mr. Chan joined Oaktree in 2016 from The Blackstone Group (HK) Limited, where he was a managing director leading the firm’s real estate debt strategy in Asia. For six years before that, Mr. Chan was a managing director and the head of real estate investing in Asia at Mount Kellett Capital. Prior thereto, he worked at Goldman Sachs’s Asian Special Situations Group & Real Estate Principal Investment Area in Hong Kong for nine years. Mr. Chan began his real estate investing career at CIBC Development Corporation in Toronto in 1994. He completed an undergraduate degree in actuarial science at The University of Western Ontario in Canada and is a CFA charterholder.
