Matt Murphy Bio

Matt participates in all legal aspects across Northleaf’s global private markets platform, with a focus on the legal and structuring elements of Northleaf’s product development, fund formation, distribution and investor relations activities. Matt also works closely with deal teams and external advisors to structure, negotiate and execute investments across Northleaf’s private equity, infrastructure and private credit investment programs, and assists with corporate matters. Prior to joining Northleaf in 2017, Matt was an associate at Torys LLP, where he focused on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on private equity and private fund formation, representing a number of Canada’s leading institutional investors and private fund managers, including Northleaf, in connection with their private markets transactions. Matt received both a Bachelor of Arts (Dean’s Honour List) and a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Dalhousie University.
