Jeremy Bassil Bio

Jeremy joined Northill in January 2011 as Counsel & Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to this, Jeremy was at The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation most recently as Associate General Counsel reporting to the New York based General Counsel. Jeremy joined Mellon in 1999 to establish a new legal department in London to support the Company’s international strategic growth plans. He recruited and developed an experienced professional legal group, ultimately managing a global team of 35, with lawyers based in EMEA, Latin America and Asia. His responsibilities included providing a full range of legal support to BNY Mellon’s global (ex-US) asset management businesses (including product development/structuring, distribution and international M&A) as well as general corporate/commercial legal support to BNY Mellon businesses in EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America. He is an experienced advisor on corporate governance and other material regulatory matters and managed law firm relationships for BNY Mellon in over 100 jurisdictions. Prior to 1999, Jeremy worked in the Financial Services team at Dechert LLP advising on a broad range of asset management matters including hedge fund/manager establishment and structuring and UK/EU regulatory matters. He previously worked as a lawyer at Gottex Financial Products Limited, Clerical Medical Investment Group and Ernst & Young. Jeremy is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales (1999), an English Barrister at Law (1987) and holds a LL.B. (Honours) Business Law degree from the University of Huddersfield (1986).
