Matt Walker joined Motive Partners in 2020 and is a Principal on the Motive Investment Team based out of the New York office. At Motive, Matt is responsible for sourcing, analyzing and executing investments as it relates to technology companies that enable the financial economy. Prior to joining Motive, Matt was an investment professional at Permira, a global private equity firm. He first joined Permira in 2012 as a generalist in the New York office, and after business school, rejoined Permira in the Menlo Park office to focus on investments in the technology sector. He was involved in a number of transactions including Renaissance Learning, LegalZoom, Synamedia and a secondary recapitalization of Permira's older technology portfolio. Matt started his career in the Investing Banking Division of Citigroup in the Global Industrials Group, where he advised a diverse set of clients. While at Citi, he worked on a variety of transactions including Sealed Air's acquisition of Diversey, General Electric's joint venture with XD Electric, AbitibiBowater's Chapter 11 restructuring and Webjet's sale to GOL Airlines. Matt earned a B.A. in Economics and Geography from Dartmouth College graduating Cum Laude, and a M.B.A. from Columbia University graduating with Dean's Honors and Distinction.
