Joe Hurliman Bio

Joe Hurliman is an Operating Partner with Azimuth. He is a senior Exploration & Production executive with more than 35 years experience including international oil & gas, conventional onshore & offshore field development and unconventional shale. He has a strong technical engineering background with operational leadership and board experience. From 2012-2017 Joe was the CEO and President of Discovery Natural Resources, a privately held Permian Basin pure play operator. Prior to that, Joe worked with BP for 30 years in a variety of technical and management roles. In his last role with BP, Joe was the Vice President, Reservoir Management of TNK-BP, responsible for subsurface development & optimization within the Russian portfolio. His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Whitman College.
