Mr. Campion is a co-founder, Managing Director and current venture partner of Access Venture Partners. Based in Austin, he has over forty years of experience in the formation, management and funding of companies. He recruited Woodside Fund III to Texas and had been a Special Limited Partner of that fund for fourteen years. Prior to joining Woodside Fund III, Mr. Campion was the President of the Texas Research and Technology Foundation (TRTF) and Ventex Group, Inc. its venture capital subsidiary. Mr. Campion has considerable university-related technology transfer experience, having funded several companies formed around technologies transferred from major university systems. He also has extensive energy industry experience including President and CEO of a refining and marketing company and a senior manager for a large independent company with refining, natural gas liquids and production facilities. Previous investment successes include Cerebro Vascular Advances which was merged into Quintiles (QTRN), OsteoBiologics which was acquired by Smith & Nephew (SNN) and QuickArrow acquired by NetSuite (NS). Mr. Campion has been on the board of directors for numerous venture backed companies and currently serves on the board of Pawngo and American Innovations, and is actively involved with the St. David’s Foundation.
