Sam is a Managing Director and Head of our Investment Banking team. Sam joined First NZ Capital in 2006 after eight years in Sydney with Caliburn (now Greenhill Caliburn), where he advised on some of Australia’s largest public market takeovers and mergers and acquisitions processes. At First NZ Capital Sam has advised on a diverse range of transactions. Recent equity capital markets experience includes IPOs of Orion Health, Scales Corporation, Synlait Milk and Summerset. Other experience includes follow-on capital raisings for Pacific Edge, Heartland Bank, Nuplex, Pyne Gould Corporation and secondary sell-downs for Todd Corporation (sale of 11% stake in Sky TV) and Quadrant Private Equity (sale of retained stake in Summerset). Select M&A experience includes takeover advice for SKYCITY and Auckland Airport; advising Heartland Bank on the acquisition of the Sentinel Reverse Mortgage Portfolio; NDA on the sale of Dairy Technology Services; SCF on the sale of their interest in Dairy Holdings Ltd; Synlait Milk on introduction of Bright Dairy as 51% shareholder; MARAC, CBS and SCBS on their merger to form Heartland Bank; AMP on the sale of Summerset and Pacific Equity Partners on the sale of Griffins and acquisition of Tegel and Independent Liquor. Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Post Graduate Diploma (Finance) from Otago University.
