Clarence joined Fieldstone in 2002. He specialises in the investment banking, commercial and financial modelling, raising of debt and/or equity and transactional aspects of potential projects and business in bringing it to financial close. He has a Bing (Electrical) (Cum Laude) degree from the University of Pretoria as well as a MBL degree (“Top Ten†student in 1993), is a registered professional electrical engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. Over the last more than ten years he has travelled widely in the region focussing on energy and infrastructure related projects. Just some of the projects that Clarence has played a leading role in are: the development of the 685MW Ibom Power plant in Nigeria, commercial advisory on the 1,800MW hydro power plant in Ethiopia, commercial due diligence on the 180MW Pretoria West, 300MW Rooiwal and 180MW Athlone coal fired power stations, advisory services on the 300-600MW coal-fired Moatize IPP in Mozambique and the development of a new gas fired IPP in Ghana. He also advised on the formation and equity solicitation of a new energy company in South Africa from inception until the signing of the shareholders agreements between a major South African resource company and an Indian based IPP company. Clarence has also advised on commercial aspects relating to Eskom’s 1,352MW Ingula pumped storage power station, the 1,450MW Ankerlig and 750MW Gourikwa peaking power stations. He has been involved in the development of renewable energy generation projects (wind and solar) in South Africa and is providing financial advisory services to bidders for new generation in South Africa.
