Andrew Smith-Maxwell joined Fieldstone in 2003. He has a wide range of experience of M&A transactions, privatisations, and restructurings both in Europe and in Asia. In addition, Andrew has worked for some of the largest companies in Europe including Enel, National Grid Transco, Centrica, Iberdrola, and Mirant. Prior to joining Fieldstone, Andrew worked with YTL Power on its purchase of Wessex Water, later serving as a director of the company. Prior to this, he led and built up the Energy and Utilities Group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, responsible for overseeing its teams in the U.K., Germany, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. During his 14 years at Dresdner, Andrew worked on a wide range of transactions across Europe, including the major trend-setting changes that shaped the U.K. electricity market from privatization through to the development of the retail market. He has extensive experience in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, including leading the teams advising Mirant on its investment in Bewag and ENEL during its privatization. Earlier in his career, at DrKW, Andrew established DrKW’s Asian utilities team, based out of Hong Kong. Andrew received a first-class honors degree in engineering, including being awarded an electrical institute’s engineers prize, from Durham University.
