Bio

Samir Gupta is the Chief Executive Officer of Group Consumer Banking. He has over 30 years’ experience in many different capacities in the banking industry including retail, wealth management, consumer finance, cards, risk, operations and audit. Samir has a track record of building consumer banking franchises in Asia, Africa and Middle East markets. Samir has previously worked with Citibank and Barclays and joined CIMB Group as Consumer Banking Director of CIMB Niaga in 2010, where Samir had successfully grown and transformed the Indonesian Consumer Business. Samir moved to Kuala Lumpur in his current role in 2016. Samir holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a Master of Management Studies from the University of Bombay.
