Sherlyn Lau Bio

Sherlyn Lau is the deputy head of our multidisciplinary China Corporate and Finance practice. Her practice focuses on corporate finance transactions including representing both issuers and underwriters in initial public offerings on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. She has experience in a wide range of general commercial and corporate finance transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, secondary equity fund raisings, and pre-initial public offering private placements. Sherlyn has also handled a number of initial public offerings on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, debt offerings, and general compliance matters. China Business Law Journal has named Sherlyn as one of 2020’s A-List Top 100 Lawyers for her continued outstanding performance. She was also recognized in IFLR1000 2020, 2019, and 2017 as a “Notable Practitioner” for Capital Markets: Equity. In the 2017 edition of the guide, a Chinese multinational bank client who has worked with Sidley in the equity capital markets stated, “Sherlyn Lau is very hands-on, has strong commercial judgment and is very experienced in the real estate sector.” Sherlyn is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese and has a working knowledge of Malay language.
