Sara Garcia Duran Bio

Sara Garcia Duran focuses her practice on complex corporate and transactional matters, including representation of private equity firms and public companies in connection with public and private acquisitions, divestitures and investment transactions. She also advises clients with respect to general corporate governance matters and compliance with applicable securities regulations. Sara’s range, experience and results have earned her significant recognition, including most recently her recognition as a “Top Latino Lawyer” by Latino Leaders Magazine. Sara was included in D Magazine’s “Top Lawyers under 40” list for 2019 and received the prestigious 2019 “HNBA Top Lawyers Under 40” Award. She has been named as a “Rising Star” in Law360 2018, selected as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” from 2018–2020 for her work in Corporate Law, and selected as one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas” for 2017 and 2019 – 2021. She also received the “Lawyers on the Rise” award at the 2017 Texas Lawyer Professional Excellence Awards. She was recognized for her work on matters which are “often complex, international in scope, cross several industries and sectors, and require the management of large legal teams with varied backgrounds. Texas Super Lawyers recognized Sara as a “Texas Rising Star” in Mergers & Acquisitions for 2015–2017 and 2019. In addition, Dallas Business Journal named Sara as one of their “2015 40 Under 40 Honorees,” and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce honored her with the 2013 Young Professional Leadership ATHENA Award. Sara serves as a member of the board of directors of the Texas Women’s Foundation as well as the Dallas Holocaust Museum. Additionally, Sara serves on Sidley’s national Diversity Committee as well as co-chair of the Dallas office’s Diversity Committee and was named a 2016 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow. Prior to joining Sidley, Sara worked as a corporate associate in the Dallas office of an international law firm, where she represented a wide range of clients in a variety of industries, including: Dell, Inc.; OMERS Private Equity; Thomas H.
