Karim Maizar Bio

Karim Maizar is a partner in our Zurich office and a passionate startup lawyer. As co-founder and head of the firm’s Startup Desk, he has led the firm’s efforts to emerge as a Swiss leading law firm for people shifting technology frontiers and driving market changing innovations. In this capacity, Karim works with many of the most promising Swiss technology and life sciences startups through all stages of their growth, from spinning out from universities and first seed rounds all the way up to growth financing rounds and exit transactions. Karim also has extensive experience in advising VCs, strategic investors (including CVCs) and business angels as part of their engagement with Swiss high-tech startups. Karim regularly acts as a speaker in his area of expertise and holds workshops for founders throughout Switzerland. He has close links to the innovation and entrepreneurship lab at ETH Zurich and acts as a coach at the BioEntrepreneurship & Innovation Program of the University of Zurich. He is also a board member of the Swiss Entrepreneurs & Startup Association (SWESA), a member of the Legal & Tax Chapter of the Swiss Private Equity and Corporate Finance Association (SECA) and serves on the jury of the yearly Swiss Top100 startup awards. With his full dedication on startups and venture capital transactions and his enthusiasm for the Swiss startup eco-system, he has received considerable market endorsement for his practice. In 2019, he was recognized by Bilanz/Handelszeitung/Le Temps as one of the “Top 100 Digital Shapers” of Switzerland.
