Hesham Gohar Bio

Hesham has more than 13 years of experience in investment banking and private equity in the MENA region, having worked across the regional financial markets of Dubai, Jeddah and Cairo. Prior to CI Capital, Hesham was a senior banker at Beltone Financial where he oversaw equity and M&A transactions including the largest IPO executed in Egypt in 2010. He was previously Head of Principal Investments at Shuaa Capital, based in Dubai (where he managed the firm’s USD 400 million investment portfolio) and was earlier Director of Principal Investments and member of the Investment Committee at Dubai Capital Group, the MENA-focused investment arm of Dubai Holding. During that time, Hesham helped create and managed a multi-sector, multi-asset class portfolio of investments across the region valued at USD 1 billion. He led several landmark transactions for the firm, including its participation in EFC, in what was the largest LBO transaction in the history of the MENA region. Hesham was also a banker with Swicorp, where he advised regional and international institutions and family offices in M&A as well as debt and equity financings out of Jeddah and Cairo. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Investment Committee for the Government of Dubai’s Education Endowment Fund. Hesham is a graduate of the American University in Cairo with a BA in Economics and completed Executive Education at Harvard Business School.
